An unidentified Class 501 EMU is approaching Acton Wells Junction while working a Broad St to Richmond service (code B4) round the North London line on 2nd May 1981. It has just traversed the bowstring girder bridge over the Paddington branch of the Grand Union Canal, which goes under the goods yard in the background. The Class 501 units had distinctive 3 bars over the window openings to prevent passenger injuries in the tunnels on the route.
