On 31st March 2020 a move of 3 Northern Class 142 pacers was ran as the 07:07 from Gascoigne Wood to Eastleigh works, probably the first time Class 142's have been to Eastleigh. The move of the three Class 142's covered a lot of ground where 142's also never ran in service, such as through the Midlands. In this view No. 142089 leads 142032 and 142014 along the Cross City Line in Birmingham at Northfield. 142's may have passed through the West Midlands en route to the Wales / West Country but remain a very rare sight.
