On 11th December 2017, East Midlands Trains Class 222 No. 222010 heads north past the derelict South Wingfield Station buildings on a London St Pancras to Sheffield service. The Station was built in 1839-40 to the designs of Francis Thompson for the North Midland Railway, is listed at Grade II* and is currently subject to appeals for its restoration.
