A view of the work going on to commission the new flyover at Norton Bridge on Easter on 27th March 2016. The old track has been severed and the new alignment is having OLE installed at this point in the schedule. The new line can be seen under the road bridge where it rises up to cross the WCML just north of the existing junction. It then curves to the left and eventually joins the main line at a new junction with the slow lines about a mile south of Norton Bridge. The stub in the centre foreground will eventually be connected to the left hand severed track to provide a bi-directional link to the up and down fast lines at the existing junction. When this new line opens on Cross Country services between Manchester and Birmingham will will be able to avoid crossing the fast lines in the Stafford area.
