Class 24 No. 5081 (24081), visiting the Great Central Railway for the Diesel Gala, leaves Loughborough on the 10:00 Loughborough Central to Leicester North service on 4th September 2015, its first run on the GCR. It is believed that this was the first time a Class 24 locomotive has been on GCR metals since No. D5000 worked from Marylebone to Nottingham on 3rd September 1966, the last day of through working on the GCR, 49 years ago.
