Dalton, Georgia is the crossing point of the CSX and Norfolk Southern, Atlanta to Chattannooga lines. The junction called Hairis situated in the middle of the town. Here Norfolk Southern EMD GP50 No. 7045 and Conrail liveried SD40-2 3412 wait for a northbound CSX train hauled by a pair of EMD SD locomotives to pass and to clear the crossover on 8th June 2007.
