A train of oil tankers from Stanlow is headed by Class 31 nos. No. 31199 and 31312 passing Low Gill on relatively easy grades on 1st August 1994. In around 4 miles, however, they will begin the 1 in 75 climb to Shap summit.(Photograph by Richard Braybrook)
