In 2009 Axminster station received a major rebuild which included the relaying of the long since lifted UP line and platform including a connecting bridge incorporating lifts. With the UP line reinstated it formed a new three mile passing loop allowing passenger trains to be re-timed to pass at Axminster which would abolish the need to make an additional pathing stop in the middle of nowhere at Chard Junction. HST power cars 43014 and 43013 running wrong line on 22nd July 2010 with the Network Rail NMT is captured working the usual monthly morning run of the (04:48) Old Oak Common to Basingstoke via Exeter St.Davids 'New Measurement Train'.
