The driver of A-1-A Class 31/1 No. 31304 is attentive as he eases his train of MG sports cars on to the main line from the Abingdon branch on 24th August 1978, running past the spartan facilities that had been provided for passengers from that town to join services on the GW Oxford line. After 50 years, MG car production was to cease in Abingdon the following year.
