Following the failure of Locomotive Services class 37 No. 37521 at Blackburn en route from Crewe to Apppleby the previous afternoon, the Rail Charter Services stock for the Settle & Carlisle tourist train was returned to Crewe by Class 47 No. 47593 and DRS Class 37 No. 37407 Blackpool Tower was hired in to cover the ensuing traction shortage. The Class 37 worked services the following day, 3rd August 2020, and departs from Skipton with the 16.12 Skipton - Appleby service, with Class 47 No. 47593 on the rear. It was scheduled to return to Crewe later that evening.
