In the late 1980s Tinsley Depot painted names on their Class 08 shunters, indicating the yards where the shunters would normally be found. On 17th July 1988 a row of Class 08 shunters are seen at Tinsley; No. 08871 41E Barrow Hill No. 08492 41G Barnsley No. 08434 41A Midland No. 08857 41A Darnall No. 08436 41A Beighton No. 08678 41H Staveley No. 08870 41C Millhouses No. 08308 41J Langwith, and No. 08878 41B Grimesthorpe. Also on the Depot were No. 08880 41F Mexborough No. 08509 Wath ETD, and No. 08879 41A Earles. Over 30 years later 6 of these shunters are still around; No. 08308 and No. 08870 at Weardale No. 08436 at Swanage No. 08678 at WCRC Carnforth No. 08871 at RMS Ilford, and No. 08879 at Hope Cement.
