In brilliant autumn sunshine on 29th September 2018, a Class 55 Deltic No. 55009 "Alycidon" and a DRS Class 68 No. 68004 "Rapid" pass through Hexham Station at the head of; The Deltic Deviator, a Pathfinder Tours rail charter from Willington to Carlisle. The Deltic had been attached at York and the pair would continue their journey to Carlisle via the Durham Coast, Newcastle, Morpeth and the Tyne Valley.
