It has been announced that long distance services to the South West with the bi-mode 800 series units will commence on 16th July 2018 - so this sight of a 40 year old HST at Hungerford level crossing will soon become history, as will the crossing itself eventually. Only the lack of a viable alternative for access to an industrial park below the railway has kept it hanging on for so long. Class 43 No. 43141 is leading a Penzance to Paddington service on 2nd May 2018.
