On 18th/19th July 2015, the Middleton Railway celebrated the anniversary of the completion of the first locomotive from the Hunslet Engine Company on 18th July 1865. Here, Austerity 0-6-0 Saddle Tank No. 19, (built for the National Coal Board in June 1954 and worked all its life in Scotland - it is now owned by the Scottish Railway Preservation Society) stands at Middleton Park Halt headshunt, awaiting its next working on 19th July.
