BR 9F 2-10-0 No. 92220 'Evening Star' is seen operating on the demonstration line at Didcot Railway Centre on 6th March 1983. The last steam locomotive built for British Railways, and also theh member of the BR Standard range No. 92220 was built at Swindon Works in February 1960 being named at Swindon Works in a ceremony on 18th March 1960. The only 9F to carry BR lined green livery she was earmarked for preservation from the start of her very short BR career. Withdrawn in March 1965 No. 92220 was subsequently overhauled and became part of the National Collection, being allowed to operate over the BR Network for several years. Following display at Shildon Museum in County Durham and then the Steam Museum at Swindon 'Evening Star' can currently be found in the National Rail Museum, York.
