Platform 9 at Crewe Station plays host to 2 Class 142 Pacer DMUs on Sunday 11th August 1991. The first unit No. 142012 is in Greater Manchester PTE orange and brown livery while behind it is unit No. 142026 in chocolate and cream livery having been recently re-allocated to the North West from service in the West Country. Both units at this time were allocated to Newton Heath TMD in Manchester. 23 years later the 2 Pacers are still operational No. 142012 still at Newton Heath and No. 142026 allocated to Heaton TMD Tyneside. Both Class 142s are currently operated by Northern Rail.
