This particular Mark 2 BSO has been converted to be able to be used as a control coach and driving cab in order to enable trains on the Great Central Railway (North) to operate as far as East Leake and occasionally Loughborough North where there are no facilities for running locomotives around. At the south end of the train was the railway's resident Class 20 No. D8054.
