Ex DB diesel No. 199 861-6 is one of several that have been converted from standard gauge with new bogies to be able to run on the Harz Mountain Railways metre gauge track and is seen here towering over its train at Wernigerode Westerntor Station on Wednesday 2nd July 2014. It is about to depart for Drei Annen Hohne Station 14km down the line with a test train comprising of a newly overhauled bogie Buffet Car and a Brake Coach for the engineers and their equipment. Wernigerode Westerntor is the location of the main workshops for the entire 140km Harz system and carries out repairs to all their rolling stock with the exception of heavy general repairs to the steam loco fleet which are taken by rail over DB tracks on special wagons to Meiningen Locomotive Works.
