New ground was broken for Class 159s with the diversion of the 07:18 Warminster to Great Malvern First Great Western service due to a points failure. Currently, one unit a day is on hire to First Great Western during the summer months. The result of the points failure was the diversion of the train via the Severn Tunnel and Chepstow, rather than the booked route via Yate. This diversion therefore became the first time that a Class 159 had traversed the Severn Tunnel to Gloucester route. No. 159016 is pictured passing Chepstow
