On Friday 10th May 1985, and in large logo blue livery, Class 47/4 No. 47593 'Galloway Princess' complete with large Eastfield West Highland markings awaits departure from Glasgow Queen Street Station with a Scotrail-liveried train of Mark 2D coaches for Aberdeen. New to Haymarket MPD Edinburgh during November 1965 as No. D1973 she would remain a Scottish loco until August 1991 apart from a short spell at Gateshead in 1969. Renumbered under TOPS as Class 47/0 No. 47272 in late 1974, and to Class 47/4 No. 47583 following ETH conversion during August 1983 she was named 'Galloway Princess' at Stranraer in September 1983. Transferred south of the border during late summer 1991 she was further renumbered, initially as Class 47/6 No. 47673 and finally as Class 47/7 No. 47790 in October 1994. Nearly 20 years later No. 47790 now approaching 49 years of continuous service is operated by DRS in Northern Belle Pullman livery pulling luxury charter trains all over the BR Network.
