The famed ski slope of the East Lancashire Railway cuts through what was once the site of Bury Knowesley St station as it crosses the Metrolink line between Bury and Manchester. On 19th October 2013 it was LNWR Class G2 0-8-0 No. 49395 which was breasting the slope with a Heywood - Rawtenstall service.
