Showing my Dad (Albert), a Gateshead based driver at the helm of Class 55 Deltic No. D9002, 'The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry' at the head of 1A16, the 08:00hrs from King's Cross to Edinburgh, The Talisman, which Dad worked from Newcastle to Edinburgh. The locomotive had been released from Doncaster works a few days earlier in the new BR corporate blue livery. The image was taken by Joe Bonner, who was Dad's second man on the day. I suspect the image was posed for, although Dad cannot remember. Taken 20th October 1966.
