Ellington Colliery's Underground Mining locomotive No. 14 stands on display at the NRM 'Locomotion' Shildon on 20th October 2012. Built by Hudswell Clarke of Leeds in 1961, the diesel mechanical locomotive used for coal haulage and material handling in the Northumberland colliery until its closure in 2005. The last locomotive to come out of the mine, the driver ('Cliffy') wrote his name in the cab, and the inscription 'The Last Train at Big E' on its side.
