Class 73 electro-diesels Nos. 73114 and 73139 leave Woking, propelling a Waterloo to Bournemouth semi-fast working in May 1988. Train formations were many and various during this period, as the 4REPs were being disbanded to allow their traction motors to be used in the new Class 442 units for the route. Pairs of Class 73s were frequently used to replace REP motor vehicles with TC and trailer REP combinations. 1988
