BR Standard Class 9F No. 92220 ‘Evening Star’ stands on display within the Great Hall, at York’s NRM, on 3rd December 2011. Built at the Swindon Railway Works in 1960, the locomotive holds the distinctions of being the last steam locomotive built by British Railways, and the only British mainline locomotive that was earmarked for preservation from the date of construction.
