Two Class 73/1s were owned and used by Eurostar at its North Pole Depot, London, primarily to rescue failed units and to move units around when not on electrified track. Both Class 73/1s were fitted with Scharfenberg couplers to permit such use and following Eurostar's move from North Pole to Temple Mills they were redundent. No. 73118 has been loaned to the operator of the Barry Tourist Railway in south Wales and is seen in this image on 27th August 2011 departing from Barry Waterfront; the unusual coupling device is shown to good effect.
