On on 6th October 1990 Penzance Station 1600 : No. 43049 Neville Hill is in charge of the return journey to Birmingham of this 'Hertfordshire Rail Tour' charter. The set is in immaculate condition being one of those allowed to run at 140mph + with special maintainance schedules for working 'The Talisman' Sadly some 5 hours later we hit a cow at 85mph approaching Kings Sutton which made a mess of the front end. After a two hour delay we proceeded to Leamington Spa on the rear power car as No. 43049 had a hole in the fuel tank as a result of the collision .
