Closed in 1947 and now in private occupation the former Sandon station between Stone and Colwich still retains its unique 'porte cloche' and typical NSR architecture, a relic of its days when it served the estate village of the Earls of Harrowby, who still occupy the nearby Sandon Hall. An unidentified Pendolino passes on 9.45 Manchester Piccadilly- Euston on 24th October 2008.
