Often regarded as the arch enemy of railways in the Beeching era, 'Barbara Castle' finds her name adorning Class 158 No. 158784 as it accompanies classmate No. 158859 arriving at Kirkby Stephen on 10th October 2009 with the 10.49 Leeds-Carlisle. If Beeching had had his way there wouldn't have been any railway to run on here! .
