One of the few 'first generation' DMUs still in regular public service is Arriva Trains Wales No. 121032 seen here on 3rd May 2010 at Cardiff Bay while working the frequent shuttle service between there and Cardiff Queen Street. Cardiff Bay was known as Cardiff Bute Road until the recent major redevelopment of this area from a 'down at heel' area of the docks to the vibrant and upmarket waterfront area of the Principality's capital city. The building immediately behind the bufferstops is the listed former head office of the Taff Vale Rilway and was constructed in the 19th Century, the last time that this area was a focal point of Cardiff.
