2 of the legendary Class 25NC 4-8-4's await their respective fates beneath Beaconsfield Depot's magnificent coaling stage on 6th August 2007. The first, is now under restoration in Pretoria, the second has since been scrapped. The 'NC' in their classification came about as there were other Class 25's fitted with condensing tenders to get them across the Karoo Desert. The 'NC's' had no such apparatus, thus the classification 25NC.
